Guitar & Piano

Adults, Teenagers, Children

(beginner and intermediate)

Music produces a kind of pleasure which human nature cannot do without.
— Confucius

Guitar & Piano lessons individually crafted for each student based on their musical interests and background. Students will learn the songs they love while developing proper technique and essential musical skills like sight-reading, music theory, ear training and rhythm. The Sound Weaver (Jacinta Percy) will work with you to achieve your goals and gain a well-rounded music education, regardless of age or musical background.

These music lessons can be incorporated into your Singing & Vocal classes, so you can learn both or add an accompanying instrument to your singing practice.

Lessons are for beginner to intermediate students, those who have learnt previously or those who want to brush up on the fundamentals and are curious to explore more.

All music genres, languages and ages welcome. Private lessons are at Jacinta’s studio in Northcote.

Learning a new instrument and performing takes time, effort and patience.

For both students and parents, each student must develop a home practice. For beginning students, Jacinta recommends practising twice a week for around 10 - 15 minutes. Then over time, you can increase the time and days. Practice needs to come from a place of curiosity and willingness from the student. Learning new skills and coordination will not happen overnight; they take kindness, dedication and discipline.

At least 4 - 8 one hour lessons work best to learn the foundations of this Guitar & Piano training and practice.

Children who received music lessons showed improved language-based reasoning and the ability to plan, organise and complete tasks, as well as improved academic achievement. This [research] suggests that the cognitive skills developed during music lessons can influence children’s cognitive abilities in completely unrelated subjects, leading to overall improved academic performance.
